Who We Are
Grace & Truth Family Baptist Church began in a living room in Plant City, Florida in 2009. We want to see mature disciples that can carry out the mission of Jesus Christ. That mission is laid out in scripture in what is known as the Great Commission, “And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20)
In this local congregation, GTFBC has a plurality of godly elders that lead and provide spiritual oversight to its members. GTFBC is committed to functioning with a plurality of elders. The term elder is synonymous with the term pastor. However, pastor refers to the function, while elder refers to the office. Our current elders function in the roles of pastor/ teacher and give oversight to the congregation. Our elders are; Church founder Skip Athey and Eric Ayala. Assisting the elders are a body of deacons that help to provide for the physical needs of the local congregation.
Theologically, GTFBC is a reformed church holding to the doctrines of God’s sovereignty and grace and the 5 Solas of the reformation: Sola Scriptura (Scripture alone,) Sola Fide (Faith alone,) Sola Gratia (Grace Alone,) Solus Christus (Christ Alone,) Soli Deo Gloria (to the Glory of God alone.)
Our confession of faith is the London Baptist Confession of 1689.
We encourage everyone to grow as a disciple of Jesus Christ. During the the worship service everyone worships together as one church.
