We are a church that wants to make disciples as Jesus Christ has commanded us to do. Every Christian, regardless of any other defining factors, must seek to be a growing disciple of Christ. We seek, “to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.” (Ephesians 4:12-16)

We keep our families together throughout the entire worship service.  Too often the only time a family is together on Sunday is on the drive to and from church.  In addition, we want our families to be doing at home during the week reading God’s word together and praying together as a family.

We believe that in order to build strong faithful families we have to spend time together as families and not separate from each other according to age on Sundays.  We even enjoy keeping our families together for Bible study on Wednesday nights, we believe families that worship, pray, study God’s word and serve together, will stay together and grow together.

God’s word tells us that parents are given the primary responsibility to train and teach their children. (Deuteronomy 6:6-8, Psalm 1:8) Fathers have the primary role of spiritual instruction for their kids. We want to encourage this by keeping the children with their parents during worship. In addition, as families worship together during the week at home, the children are being trained to worship with their family together on Sundays.

We have no “youth program” at Grace & Truth, instead we encourage our young adults to participate in the worship service along with the rest of their family.  This builds stronger bonds within the family and with the entire church body and gives them responsibilities such as helping to care for their younger siblings.  It also gives them an opportunity to learn form older men and women in the congregation through discipleship. (Titus 2:4) We believe parents should be discipling of their children, but we also affirm the benefit of other godly men and women teaching and training our young people.

Inreach / Benevolence

God’s word admonishes us to always be looking for ways we can serve and help our brothers and sisters in Christ.  It is our desire to look to meet the needs of the members of our own local body of believers first, and if those needs are being met, to reach out to others with our resources to show the love of Christ through acts of kindness and good works. (Titus 2:14) God has used Grace and Truth in the past to reach out and help families with housing, utilities, transportation and food through our Benevolence ministry.

Outreach / Evangelism

The biblical mandate to go and make disciples (Matthew 28:19) is an important aspect of every church.  At Grace & Truth we believe we are to start at home with our own children, then reach out to the community at large with the message of salvation.  We look for ways to be involved in community activities and events to be a representative for Christ in our communities. Each year we fill dozens of Thanksgiving Baskets to give to needy families in our community, as well as filling Blessing Boxes that are delivered to shut-ins through the “Meals on Wheels” program in our city.
